Here are the suggestions I received here and on the Delphi support group:

San Jose:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
For location of those kinds of restaurants near the SJ convention center, go
to http://yp.yahoo.com (Yahoo! Yellow Pages) and enter location as (zip
code) "95113". Search for "convention". Choose the SJ
convention center from the resulting list. (Or you can do this with your
hotel location.) Click on its name, not location. It will give you a list
of places near there to search for. Click on "restaurants". The new list
will give you a choice of different types of restaurants. Choose whatever
food mood you're in and it will give you a new list starting with
restaurants closest to where you are.
My nephew is a chef at one restaurant near there, but I've heard that
place charges $100 a plate. Not a place I would eat at. Not everywhere is
that expensive.
You don't have to stock up in SF. San Jose is the largest city in
Northern Calif. If they sell it in SF, they sell it here. I hate driving in
SF and the parking situation there is horrible. You have to pay to park
almost everywhere. Here in SJ, most places have free parking, except
downtown. I avoid going to SF as much as possible. I'm trying to think when
the last time I was in SF, not counting picking up or delivering someone to
the airport.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
there are so many ethnic restaurants in San Jose that you will not starve
Chinese, Thai, Indian etc. Just twell them what your problem is and they
will take care of you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Staff of Life in Santa Cruz has a large variety of WF GF items including a
nice thai pasta section for dry goods. Their fresh fish and meats are the
best in the county IMHO and very reasonable for fresh items.

Also, Trader Joes in Capitola at the Brown Ranch shopping plaza near the
mall is a fine resource.

The wharf has fresh fish restaurants and Cafe Mare in Santa Cruz downtown
has nice option. Bring your own pasta and they can do a sauce at a time
when not busy.

One general suggestion:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Stock up with some great snacks
www.alpsnack.com
