Dear All,

To cut a very long story short, I have had a number of food sensitivities
for about 10 years, ie chocolate, cheese, tomatoes, honey - these all cause
dabilitating headaches and capsicum (peppers) and anything spicy irritates
my system.

Only about 2 years ago I started developing what I now recognise as the
symptoms of wheat and gluten intolerance. Although I have not "officially"
been diagnosed, through my own trial and error and painful experiences I am
certain that wheat and gluten are a problem for me.

I cut out all wheat and gluten (to the best of my knowledge) and noticed
immediate improvement. It has only been in more recent times that I have
read more and more information on the internet and realised just how
diligant you need to be. For example I had not even considered that
skin/makeup products that contained wheat or gluten could cause any
problem, so it has all been very interesting.

However, in recent months I have felt like I am 129 years old instead of 29
years old and the way I feel I believe it to be something else that I am
eating or even perhaps being exposed to. I am extremely lethargic, feel
'heavy' all the time, have a constant headache (mostly in my face, sinus
and temple areas) and my stomach and bowels are not behaving 'normally' and
the muscles of my neck and back continually get tight for which I have
chiropractic work done every few weeks. I am getting very frustrated and
feel as though I am grasping at straws now. I am a vegetarian and eat very
little dairy, the only dairy I have is feta cheese, ricotta and cottage
cheese. I am wondering if perhaps these may be adding to my current state
of health. All other products I have are soy based not dairy.

My other suspect at a guess is yeast as I have been getting sugar cravings
and have developed a very mild case of thrush for the first time in about 7
years.

I am about to see my GP to discuss being tested for celiac and have my iron
and sugar levels checked. What should I be asking for? What tests should
I have to cover as many bases as possible? I looked at becoming a member
of my State Celiac society (Queensland) but they require a doctors letter
to confirm that you do have celiac disease!

I think that's plenty for now. I would greatly appreciate any response,
particulary anyone who knows of good doctors, clinics, etc in Australia,
more specifically Queensland. I would just like to go in with some
information for my doctor in case he is not overly familiar with celiac
disease.

Thank you so much in advance,

Kind regards,

Tracy

PS I am in the process of reading The Eat Right Diet and am going to try
that system out for a while, I am blood type A and think this may help me
generally feel better.
