Thank you everyone who responded to my request for GF in Scranton. Here is what I learned:

Peter and Gillian have a website with GF listings (check this out for other cities, too):
http://ultimateglutenfree.com/gluten-free-restaurants/scranton-pennsylvania/

Donna said "There is a great little restaurant called Natale's in west Scranton not far from where marathon is held. Excellent gf options. There is Alternative eating which
is a Dedicated GF market on Main Ave also in West Scranton. . .Chicago grill is in Dickson city about 10-15 minutes outside of Scranton. You should be able to find addresses & phone #s on Internet. 2 grocery stores nearby: Wegman's in Dickson City has a section for gf foods. That is near Chicago Grill. Price Chopper in Dunmore has items marked on the shelf that are GF.

Bobette said, "There are two restaurants in town that know about gluten. One is Carl Von Luger's steak house on Linden St and N Washington Ave
and the other is POSH on N Washington and Mulberry St. . . .Also, there's a Thai restaurant called Thai Thai in the 300 block of N Washington Ave. They are gluten aware. The food is good at all three places
and they are in the center of town if thats where you're staying."

As far as food recommendations for running, I also got some good feedback:

Sport Beans, GU, GF pretzels, PB&J on Udi's bread, Gatorade, and bringing my own GF beer to celebrate the end of the race
Andy recommended bionaturae pasta the night before, GF banana bread, rice crispy treats, and lots of fresh fruit. He also recommended Succeed and Hammer Nutrition.
Ron recommended I consider a ketogenic diet, which I have also been researching. My husband has been following a Paleo diet for the past few months and has been really encouraging me to ditch the grains (I've cut back a lot, but am not eliminating until I figure out proper nutrition with running).

Thanks, Toni Holland
