The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, in
cooperation with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
is offering small (up to $50 thousand) study grants in this field. They
have a suggested list of topics, and while Celiac disease is, of course,
not included specifically, topics under which it could be studied are:
digestive diseases, nutritional disorders, mucosal immunity and the
influence of altered nutritional status on health and disease. It certainly
fits in one or all of those.

Any of you researching academics who contribute information to this list
from time to time, here's an opportunity to get Celiac study and
recognition in here.

The Health and Human Service Department's Food and Drug
Administration is inviting grant applications to study the effectiveness of
"orphan" products for rare diseasaes or conditions. This includes
,..."foods for medical purposes that are indicated for..." orphan
conditions,...typically under 200,000 sufferers.

So, here's another potential opportunity, researchers.
