I am the parent of two children (4&8) diagnosed with CD. I have finally
begun to be tested myself, as I believe it came from me. I have had the
bloodwork done and sent to Prometheus. It was negative. I have yet to
undergo stool tests and endoscopy, yet my GI wants to prescribe Creon for
what he believes to be pancreatic insufficiency. I find this curious since
all of my bloodwork was reportedly negative. I have not seen the GI again
yet. My opinion is that I will not take anything until the full battery of
tests are complete. I know negative bloodwork really means nothing, since
negatives are common in folks who have the disease.

When I saw this GI back in November he seemed fairly knowledgeable about CD
and willing to refer out to Peter Greeen (I live in NJ) if I chose that. He
also acknowledged that negative tests do not mean I don't have CD. I can't
understand where this leap to pancreatic insufficiency came from if all of
my bloodwork was normal.

Everything I read about Creon indicates it aids in digestion by moving
things through your system. I do not need any help with that - that's part
of the problem. Before I take any drugs, I plan to go GF. I would have
already done that if I still didn't need to do other tests.

Has anyone had this or similar experience? Any advice?

Thanks in advance.
