Dear Friends,
Responding to one question prompts me to share with you the information
about the special Children's Program at this year's CSA/USA Annual
Conference in Albuquerque, NM, Sept. 29,30,Oct.1. The Children's
Program at this year's CSA conference sounds very exciting and is the
most extensive in years.

According to the brochure draft, the concentration for the Children's
Programs will be for ages 6 to 12 years. The program is planned for the
hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 29 and 30. Noon
lunch and dinner for those days will be at the hotel. A tour to the
children's museum or center will be the feature for each morning. There
will be hand-on and stimulus activities and some interchange of ideas,
observations and resoning. There will be a film each day, an education
offering and small group activities. On Sat., the day will begin with a
discussion with a pediatric gastro in the morning; a similar exchange is
planned for the afternoon session with a clinical dietitian. The tour
and group activity will follow these discussion half-hours.

Supervision is by Professional Nanies of New Mexico; planning for one
adult for each four children for each day. They will add one volunteer
parent from the Albuquerque chapter.

Costs are $42 per day, or for a total of $84 for the two-day program.
Those costs include children's meals at the hotel for Friday & Sat.
lunch and dinner. There will be no added cost fot he Sunday morning
continental breakfast for children age 12 and under. These costs do not
include any of the regular conference meal menus. these costs do not
include any meals at any of the dining facilities of the hotel.

The registration deadline for the Children's Program is Sept. 20. CSA
needs your indication of interest and your payment on or before the
registration deadline to be able to include your child in the program.

There will be a home base, home room for the children in the Children's
Program at the conference for both Friday and Saturday. It will be a
home room for the children and the staff in the program, and is not
intended to be a home room for parents.

Children will have their own meal tickets. On presentation of this
ticket, the wait staff will serve the menu planned for the children.
Children can be served in the dining room for conference meals and can
choose to eat with their group or with their parents.

If the children's program should attract less than 12 participants, it
will be cancelled. Parents with registrations will be notified and
monies refunded should cancellation be necessary.

The children's programs at the conference are a cooperative effort among
several interested professionals: Dr. Jeffrey Fahl, pediatric
gastroenterologist; Dr. Ellen Cosgrove, Director of Continuing
Medication Education, Univ. of New Mexico; Marvin Daniel Chairman of the
Albuquerque CSA Chapter; Patti Salaz and Andy Wieman of the Albuquerque
Hilton; and Michelle Gelis of Professional Nannies of New Mexico.
