I realize that I should probably wait for more responses, but I think I
have enough information to do this now.

It would seem to be a straightforward answer to a silly question, and
many took it to be that, saying, in essence, no, of course not. However,
I did not ask out of stupidity, but out of a need to verify what I
thought I knew.
After all, unless it is water-process decaf coffee, the process for
decaffeinating uses formaldehyde which is carcinogenic. So I asked
because there could possibly be something used in the roasting precess
of which I was unaware.
That said, then basically the answer to MY question about whole beans is
no, there is no gluten.
There is gluten added to many processed flavored coffees, and apparently
even just the flavoring of ground beans, ie Gevalia. Many of the
flavorings themselves have gluten.

One poster said that there is actually roasted barley added to ground
coffee because it makes the flavour better. So its a good idea to check
with the manufacturer if you do buy pre-ground coffee.

I appreciate the responses, thank you,
Desba Silvers
