This is my second post in six of seven years of being a member of the list, but right now my wife and I are desperate. I was diagnosed by biopsy seven years ago at age 58. Our problem right now concerns our 36 year old daughter. Sorry this may be a little long, but I think some of the details are important.

She had been in the hospital as a result of liver disease and a massive internal infection infection for an extended period of time. After about ten days she slowly improved and her liver and kidney function returned to near normal after about five weeks. She then went into a rehabilitation hospital for another five or six weeks and slowly was able to walk again with the aid of a walker. At about the time she was coming home it hit me that she also may have Celiac disease as she has almost all of classic CD symptoms, e.g., diarrhea, bloating, skin sensation, tingling in hands and feet, anemia, hair loss, etc. etc.

We traveled down to see her as she was returning from rehabilitation and set about to have CD investigated. However, her regular doctor was off on vacation for thanksgiving week and then by Thanksgiving day she relapsed and her husband took her back to the hospital. Today I talked with the doctor and he said he will investigate the possibility of CD, but countered that the symptoms are also the same someone who has had liver disease would have. I expect I will keep on him until he at least orders the blood tests.

Our problems are severely complicated by the fact that she has developed a severe eating disorder. All food tastes bad and she has done a good deal of vomiting, etc. As a result she essentially shy away from eating anything. While in hospital she was on a good deal of "Boost" but says that will also not stay down. I seem to have gotten her to eat corn pops, bananas, chicken and rice soup, and perhaps a couple of other things. Have been trying to limit food to GF things.

So can anyone help me with similar experience and especially any suggestions on foods that would seem appealing to her under the current circumstances. She has lost a good deal of weight and much of her current bulk is in her bloated abdomen. Thanks
John
