Hi All--

I just finished searching the archives and found many entries re: gf
friendly restaurants. While this information is helpful, I have a need for
GF friendly fast food restaurants that are not so upscale and might have a
presence in the south (Alabama). I considered going through the phone
directory and calling all of the restaurants listed, but I'm hoping for
information on people's experiences, too. Sometimes restaurants won't
declare things to be GF for fear of legal action when they are actually GF.

I've found myself in the situation that because of an immune system
disfunction and sleep disorder, I don't have the energy to cook supper in
the evenings, much less try to put something together for lunch at work the
next day. I've lost my appetite and almost nothing sounds good to me.
However, I went out to eat last night with my family and found I was
relatively interested in food again...for the first time in months. So, some
of my loss of appetite is most likely from having to eat my own cooking all
of the time (single, too).

If anyone can think of GF friendly fast food (or similar) restaurants
typically open during the lunch and supper hours, I would appreciate knowing
about them. I'm sure I can't be the only single celiac who has problems with
appetite and/or time or energy to cook. I know about Outback, Carrabbas,
etc., but many of the more expensive restaurants don't open until after the
lunch hour. I'm also not interested in eating a salad every day, so any
information people are willing to share would be a great help. I'll
definitely summarize...

Thanks so much! ~~Ayn in Alabama

PS--For celiacs in the Huntsville, AL area, Steak-Out is GF except for the
roll and salad dressing. This includes the steaks and chicken. As always,
when you order, tell them "no roll or salad dressing." I don't know about
Steak-Outs in other cities - the manager I spoke with was almost certain all
Steak-Outs are GF (everything is standardized and dictated by corporate),
but you should check in the city where you live. The manager I talked with
went to great lengths to verify everything for me...calling manufacturers
and corporate on every tiny detail.
