Thanks to all who responded with steak sauce suggestions.

The overwhelming favorite is:

Lea and Perrins (original), followed closely by Heinz 57. 

Other recommendations:

Sweet Baby Ray 

Mr. Spice Garlic Steak Sauce

Two people said they use A1 with no ill effects.
