Hi,
I am new to this list and recently read two things somewhere (not
necessarily on this list) that confused me. The first is about vanilla.
What is in vanilla that has gluten? I've heard that artificial vanilla is
ok, but not real vanilla. I've also heard that all liquid vanilla, real or
artificial is bad, but that powdered vanilla is the only way to go. If there
is liquid vanilla that's GF, does anyone know what brand it is.
My second question is about soy flour/sauce. I am constantly reading
conflicting info on soy sauce. I found a soy sauce that has no distilled
vinegar or anything "bad" on the label, but I've heard that it's the soy
that's not GF. But I've been given recipes titled GF, that have soy flour in
them. So I'm really confused. Plus, I always ate the soy based dishes at
Chinese Restaurants thinking that I was doing a good thing, and that the
white sauced items contained the flour. But, recently I read that the
opposite is true. I don't know who or what to believe anymore. If anyone
wishes to shed light on this for me - please do. =)
                                Thanks, Linda Sowry
