Well it is tough to say, but it seems like there may have been a recall of
their Bard's Tale Beer. I have tried to email from their website, but have
not heard a reply yet. If I do, I will send it ASAP.

"You don't say where you are, but it used to be available in Maryland too.
My retailer repeatedly re-ordered it with no luck, but finally heard that
they are remodelling the production facilities because they were unprepared
for the volume of orders. Earlier he had heard that they had some sort of
quality control issue too. He says that now it is supposed to be available
again in February!"

"Their website is www.bardsbeer.com, but I didn't find it really helpful. It
does show what retailers are supposedly carrying it in different areas of
the US, but my retailer was not even listed."

"I was interested if you got any response to your post. I bought it once at
the beginning of summer in VT and it cost 42.00 for a case. I live in Ma.
and that was the closest place to buy it. I have sent 2 emails to Bards Tale
over the summer and never got a response. Just curious if anyone wrote
back,"

"Have you tried Whole Foods? I found it at Whole Foods in New York City. I
believe they are still expanding but I haven't found it at my local Whole
Foods on Long Island yet.
If not, try their website. I think they have a listing of the locations and
you might be able to find out about online ordering."

"At Whole Foods and Earth Fare in North Carolina."

" I was just down in South Carolina trying to find some beer and I found out
why it is not available. The story I got from the person there was that
somehow or other, the water that the company used was bad and ruined the
beer. They did not know it at the time and some beer got out and had to be
pulled. Some problems with the city water department I guess. It has put
the company in a bad way right now and they are working through their
problems. I hope they survive this financial disaster, but it is iffy. "

"I spoke with a Whole Foods that used to sell it. They stopped because he
said there were reports of the bottles spontaneously exploded I guess by too
much fermentation. Maybe that is why you do not see it around you either.
I assume Bard's Tale must be trying to fix that."

"They have actually recalled the item because there was an issue in one of
the plants that they were using in New York. They are hoping that sometime
soon that they will have a new facility and be able to distribute it again.
Sorry for the inconvience. I miss it too"

"Gretchen - question is where are you? We have it here in Maryland at many
liquor stores, particularly Wells on York Road. "

"A clerk in a liquor store in the Indianapolis area told my son there was a
recall and they had to send back what they had. I am not sure what it is all
about, but I would have expected the Bard's Tale people to have sent an
e-mail to the group with an explanation. So far I haven't seen anything."

"Try this:

"I think they are redoing their beer, as they had bacterial contamination
problems!! We got some in July, and it made us sick and the owner of Bards
Tale emailed me and told me what the problem was. We are still waiting to
hear back to have our bad beer replaced with good."
