Hi All--

I had so hoped to get an individual answer to
everyone, but as usual, so many people were generous
with their time and knowledge that I had too many
e-mails to respond to personally. Serveral people
expressed interest in the responses, so I'm
summarizing. Many thanks to everyone who
responded...this is absolutely the best group on the
internet!

Low Carbohydrate Veggies

Green, leafy veggies; salads; green beans; asparagus;
brussel sprouts; olives (black and green); avocadoes
cauliflower; broccoli; spinach; tomatoes; celery;
green peppers

Veggies that grow below the ground are typically high
in carbohydrates: potatoes, carrots, beets

One person suggested Protein Shakes by Designer
Protein

Several people suggested checking the book, "The Zone
Diet," by Barry Sears - good reference

Several people suggested another book, which I didn't
note for some reason - I had every intention of
looking for it at the library - had the word "Protein"
in the title (big help, huh?) If those of you who
suggessted that book will send me the title again,
I'll post it.

Low Carbohydrate Fruits

canteloupes; honeydew melons; lemons; strawberries;
watermelon

One person suggested searching "low carb diets" on the
web

One person gave the website:
www.carbohydrateaddicts.com as a good site for info

Several people suggested eating more nuts (if
tolerated), cheese, peanut butter, meats and eggs

Veggies High in Carbohydrates

Squash, lima beans, butter beans, peas, corn, carrots,
soybeans, beets, potatoes

One person suggested checking the glycemic index of
foods - usually the sweeter the food, the higher in
carbohydrates it is.

I hope I didn't leave any vital info out...if anyone
wants to add something, I'll do an addendum. Most of
the people who wrote had only good things to say about
controlling their carbs and how much better they felt.

Cheers and Good Eating,
Ayn
