Thanks for all the responses. They were very helpful. Here's a summary of
what I learned.

- one must be careful with spices and seasonings because often wheat-flour
and other grains are used in them as fillers, to prevent clumping or as a
flow agent, and aren't listed on the ingredients

- people varied from "use your common sense and don't be overly paranoid"
to "be extremely careful"

- gf brands included McCormick/Schilling (almost everyone mentioned them.
Also have Flavor Medley marinades that are gf), Frontier Coop, Tones,
Krogers, Durkees. Lots mentioned to be careful of curry but Spice Islands
curry was recommended by one person.

-make your own blends by grinding whole seeds and spices in a coffee or
spice grinder

-at restaurants, be careful. Call ahead and ask what spices are used.
Otherwise, ask for unseasoned meals and then bring your own spices. Also
make sure meat is not marinated and that the grill is clean

- use a cleaned out empty film cannister to carry your homemade spices to
restaurants

Again, thanks for all the tips!
