This is from a fellow that has done a lot of Medline searching and article
reading. We have corresponded in the past, but he does not join mailing
lists as he prefers the newsgroup format. Don Wiss.

B-12 and folic deficiency are among the most common in MS, although
many vitamin deficiencies are common and partially causal. Low folic B-12
low or causes weakness, anemia, dizzyness as does. Low folic causes high
homocysteine, increasing arterial plaque which can lead to stroke or
breach in the blood brain barrier, a first step in MS exacerbation.

The cause of most vitamin deficiency in MS is Celiac disease, gluten
intolerance. Celiac disease is a genetic disorder of HLA-DQ allelle,
common in Irish, Scandinavians, and european descent [300/15/5 ratio] but
not seen in Asia/Africa. Celiacs can't digest gluten [wheat, barley, rye,
oats, corn and other cereals], causing an autoimmune response with
symptoms such as nutrient and fat malabsorption, gas, anemia,
breathlessness, abdominal pain, constipation or diarhea.

Celiacs are high in MS rate, MSers high in Celiac. This is because one
of the genes for MS, HLA-DQ A0102, is only a cis - trans mutation away
from a Celiac gene, HLA-DQ A0201. I believe almost all of us -- MSers
-- have at least a low level gluten intolerance. So many symptoms of low
blood vitamin level show up in MS, like fatigue, peripheral neuropathy,
etc.

If you need assistance with creating a diet good for MS, email me
and ask for MS/Cure. MS/cause will get a copy of my latest theory.
