Some time back I had posted at message about charcoal. I received a
number of responses and tried to give a good summary, but I had not
received anything back from the people at Kingsford. Following is the
e-mail that they sent to me. I leave the call of using it up to you. I
think that I will give them another try when I grill this Saturday.

"Thank you for taking the time to contact us about KINGSFORD Briquets.
We appreciate your interest in our products.

In answer to your question, both corn and wheat starches are used, but we
predominently use corn starch. In any case, the briquets burn at such a
high temperature that the starch is burned; it does not transfer to the
food.

If I can be of further assistance to you, please contact me again.

Again, thank you for contacting us.
