To paraphrase the article:
Author compares the incidence numbers with Europe and uses the analogy of the
tip of the American iceberg can be seen relating to celiac, but most of the
iceberg is submerged due to non-awareness of the condition by American
physicians. The author states that a large, serological study needs to take
place to define the prevalence of U.S. celiac disease.  Basically, this is a
pre-study article that 'begs' the question and probably lead to the Univ. of
MD study that is currently underway.  Since the article is from '96, there is
none of the latest references to tissue transglutaminase, cures, actual
numbers on the incidence, etc.
