Good Morning All;

I am a fairly new member of our little group and have not had much good
experience dining out yet. I live in a town, unfortunately for me at
this point, that centers around food and beer. I have had some
trepidation about dining out and do not like to have to go thru the
whole explanation every time. I know I have to, I am just not used to
it yet. I was lucky to meet a nice girl here that told me a few places
to try. I did and she was right. However, I found my first place on my
own that I wanted to share in case there are people in Chicago looking
for somewhere to eat or people are coming to visit the Windy City.
I just had the best experience yet. Salpicon on Wells and Division is
one of the best meals I have had-celiac or not. They were so
accomodating it almost felt like family trying to make me comfortable.
It is a Mexican restaurant that uses no flour tortillas, just corn.
They had a woman in there 4 days ago with the same situation (thank you
whoever you are). She thoroughly explained everything to them and then,
get this, they went and did some research themselves and made a database
of what we can and can not eat from their menu!!! When I came in, they
added me to the database so now I just say my name and do not have to
say anything in front of my friends when I go in. They will give me the
waiters that are most familiar with this and offer me the options from
their menu. I can not believe how GREAT the food was or how AMAZING the
service was.

I just wanted to share it so people will go there and encourage that
kind of attention to detail. I wish all restaurants were like that. I
am a block away from that place and vow to be a regular there. Please
patronize Salpicon so that maybe other restaurants will take the lead
and make a database so we are comfortable and safe with our food choices
when we go out to eat. (they also cooked on a separate grill and made
sure I had a variety to choose from as well as changing options to suit
my needs AND TASTES!!! I was so excited that I ate way more than I
usually do, but wow, was it worth it! Thanks, just wanted to share
something positive.
