We are currently sitting at a newly re-opened Charley Browns Steakhouse on Staten Island, NY, on outer way home from Brooklyn, NY to South NJ.

The chain has rolled out a new gf menu that is quite comprehensive. But more than that, the manager came to our table on his own, and volunteered how they handle gf food in the kitchen.....separate flat grill plate for steak, fish, etc., separate bags for steamed veggies, etc. no seasoning on steaks, fresh gloves, etc.

He told me he was trained in something called Serve Safe and was a chef who accommodated special diets for many years. He said to ask for the manager whenever I come in and tell them to do the order gf. Their policy is that the waitstaff must tell them, but he says we should.

I am very impressed. He told me how he saw the restaurant business evolve to current times, with all the food allergies.

I will be emailing corporate, and plan to come here again. It is so nice to get this kind of welcoming.
