Many thanks to all who responded. Interestingly, it was about 50/50 whether
people liked or disliked the pasta so I guess it's a matter of taste. I'll
post some direct quotes below. For those who didn't like it, it does not
seem to have been a GF issue though one did say there is a disclaimer on the
box that it is produced in a facility with wheat. Other interesting bits:

*Stores where it has been found: Bread and Circus, GF Trading Company, Food
Emporium, Whole Foods

*Company contact information: http://www.adriennes.com/pasta.htm,

*Everyone who suggested an alternative named Tinkyada rice pasta. (

*Comments from e-mails: (Numbers are postive; letters negative)
1) Yes the Papadini pasta is really truly good. It is even good leftover and
cold. Excellent in salads too. I can really vouch for it.I have not found it
in a store but it is in the health food store.

a) I tried it once and didn't like it. It's been a few years now, so I
don't remember any other particulars.

2)I have used Papadini lentil pasta and love it. The recipe on the "orzo"
box for Thai chicken or tofu is wonderful. The tofu
recipe calls for smoked or flavored tofu which I have not been able to find
gf, so I've used the plain. The only off-putting thing about this pasta is
the rather unpleasant smell it has while cooking and there is quite a bit of
foam which needs to be skimmed off during cooking. However, I always rince
with cold water when cooked and then it's like regular pasta but more
nutritious.

b) I tried this about a year ago and it wasn't very good. My 5 year old
would not eat it and his favorite food is pasta. It is healthy for you, but
the taste is lacking.

3) I've found Papadini pasta to be great in soups like ministrone. We also
use the orzo along with rice and GF bouiloon to create homemade GF
"Rice-a-Roni."

c) I too was totally pysched when i heard this...BUT My sister tried it and
said it was HORRIBLE....

4) I have used this pasta several times. I find it holds its shape better
than most of the GF pastas, and I like the fact that it is nutritious. I
have used it with cheese and in soup so I don't really know if it has an odd
taste but I have had NO GF trouble with it.

d) The texture is a bit rough and it also is kind of mushy/soggy. Plus the
taste is kind of wierd. It has a stronger taste than rice pasta. But, if
you coat it with a flavorful sauce, you might like it.

5) I LOVE their pasta!! I use orzo in soups, and their rotini in salads &
ziti with sauces. It's really quite good, and I feel good after eating it

e) My wife and I tried it and did not like it at all (neither the taste nor
the texture).

6) Try it, you will like it. It is very, very good

7) It is quite good but you can definitely tell it is made from lentils :)
My 7 year old won't eat it but I like it especially with
sauces (peanut sauce, Indian curries (I eat these on GF noodles for a change
or tomato sauce). Because of all the fiber, etc. in this pasta, I
always eat lightly to avoid "bloat" and feeling over-full. I think this
pasta is best suited towards persons who like whole grain products than
the "white flour" eater.

8) Oh wow was it good! We found that the pasta cooked and tasted just like
regular pasta. The beauty of it was that it came in
more unusual shapes like (the one we miss the most- orzo).
