Pemmican is a traditional food made by Native Americans. It was made
from rendered suet, ground bison jerky (they pounded it with rocks)
and dried berries were sometimes added for flavor. It is satiating
snack and gluten-free.

More on it can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pemmican

At one time Armour made it for hunters and Indian reservations. Then
the low-fat high-carb era began, and it disappeared from production.
There is now one producer in the US, and one in Canada. Neither are
allowed to ship meat out of their respective countries.

I list the various forms of the American product here:

And you can find the Canadian product here: http://canawa.com/

Don.
