For a long time we have been waiting for a Celiac Center in the
Boston, Massachusetts area. A while ago CSA had announced one at Beth
Israel Deaconess- but when we checked it appeared to be in the
formation stage. Now we can say that it is operational. Hal has long
had received his care at Beth Israel and has had the benefit of working
with Dr. Ciaran Kelly, who is the Director of the Center and is well
known to many. Detlef Shuppan MD, PhD, a well known researcher from
Germany , has recently joined the program. There are other disciplines
involved which are listed on the site.

For details about the programs of the Center you can go to their
excellent web page.

You can find the web page by going to Google and entering Celiac Center
Beth Israel Deaconess.

the URL ( if I type it correctly is )
http://bidmc.harvard.edu/default.asp?node_id=5449&leaf_id=9313.

If you click on Physician and Nutritiionist Appointments-- you can get
information on the background of each staff person as well as a
bibliography of his/her research publications.

If a publication is printed in blue you can click on it and you can
read it on your screen with out having to do a search. (There is an
excellent recent article with Shuppan as the first author on his
listing.)

There is information on Celiac, Celiac FAQs, Medical terminology,
Links to other sites, Gluten free companies, Local stores etc. etc.

For those who have had a relationship with Beth Israel Deaconess and
for others who would like to support a Celiac Center in the New England
Area, donations are now being accepted.

Make checks payable to The Celiac Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical
Center ( tax-deductible)
