OLIVE GARDEN:
Looks like everyone misses meals at Olive Garden! I have received many varying responses about it, leading to of course even more confusion.
Lots of people have said the salad is okay if they open it fresh and they do not add croutons. Also some said that any plain meat minus the marinades will be fine, but at the same time some think perhaps some of the meats are already marinated.
Basically I think it might depend on the manager and how accommodating they want to be to you. I received a few positive stories about very nice managers! A few items that people said were alright for those with CD (of course ask them to use a piece of foil to avoid grill contamination):
plain marinara sauces and the steamed veggies
Chicken Marsella
pork chops
steak with no seasonings
baked potato

In order to cover all my bases I called the guest relations office. They listed off the ingredients in the salad dressing to me (seems okay, but I am a new Celiac so I could be wrong as I don't have it all memorized yet). This was the only item they could tell me about because they sell it. Any other recipes, I was told, they are unable to tell me the ingredients of. The one way you can do this is to get your doctor to write a letter describing all your allergens and fax it to them. They will then fax your doctor. Sounds like too much of a pain to me! The rep did tell me that many of their dishes are prepared fresh, so it would be feasible for the cook to prepare something minus the seasonings, etc.

CASA FIESTA SEASONINGS:
This is the brand of enchilada sauce mix I thought I reacted to. I called the company today and they sent me this email:

Ms. Thompson

I confirmed that the only glutens in any Casa Fiesta seasonings are in Chili
con Carne and Taco Salad (not Taco Seasoning Mix). We have a allergen
program that prevents cross-contamination from ingredients and other
products. Please let us know if we may be of further assistance and have a
happy new year.

Sincerely,
Bruce Foods Corporation
