To the List-
I felt that it was important to share my story just in case anybody is =
in a similar position--

Six months ago my daughter (age 6) became quite sick with stomach pain
(gas) and acid reflux. She was very thin, not wanting to play much and
waking up 3 times a night with tummy pain.

She was in to see her Pediatrician 5 times that month. He ran numerous
tests but found nothing. I was getting desperate at this point and
after much research found Celiac. Just to rule out Celiac, I changed her
diet and removed all gluten and lactose. Within days she was much better
and within a couple weeks was almost her old self. (She also had lots of
diarrhea as a 2-3 year old and always had a hard time with dairy).

I took her to a ped-gastro specialist who thought my diagnosis was
probably correct. She wanted to wait a couple of months and do a gluten
challenge and then a biopsy. During this time this list was a real life
saver for me--offering information and support that was so needed!

Jump forward 6 months...I take her to a new gastro doc before subjecting
her to a biopsy. He says "let's try Flagyl", an antibiotic. She was on
Flagyl for ten days and has since been "cured". She now eats everything
she used to eat and is feeling GREAT. Obviously there was something
else going on in her gut that really fed on the gluten.

I don't want anybody else to go through months of trials (and a biopsy?)
unnecessarily. If anybody out there knows what she may have been cured
of, please write to me. (The doctor hasn't/won't return my calls).

A big thanks for a great support system!

Michele
