Hi,

I am in need of a little advise.? I have a 15 yr. old son who has been gluten free for just over 2 yrs.? He was dx'd with Celiac by biopsy.? He has been very, very good about sticking to the diet.? His only symptoms before being dx'd were headaches and not growing (short stature).??? He is the only person with celiac in the family.

He and I went grocery shopping this past weekend.? He wanted to buy some snacks for he brother, called grips.? They are little bags of cheese nips, chip ahoy cookies, ect.? I told him no, because I thought it would bother him to see his brother eat them.? He told me it was alright.? I was very proud of him for thinking of his brother.? That doesn't happen very often.? We do our best to keep mostly GF snacks in the?house.? My younger son does like alot of the GF cookies and snacks.?

Well, last night my husband found the box of cheese nips open and eaten shoved under his bed.? I was very surprised.? I know some of you may think I was being naive, but when I said that he was being very, very good on the diet he was.? When people would offer him gluten containing food he was the first to say, "No, I can't eat that."? He is also very good at reading the labels on things.? So, I was really surprised to find the wrappers in his room.? In? the last 2 yrs. he has grown almost 10 inches and put on about 47 pounds.? The growth has done wonders for his self-esteem.?

How is the best way for me to approach my son about this??? I am not angry at him.? Just worried and upset that it appears that he lied to me, so he could get a snack that he wanted, but shouldn't have.? Do any of you have any experience with this type of situation?

I would appreciate any advise.? Please don't respond if your just going to say I was wrong to trust him.? He has never given me a reason not to.

Thank you.
