The results have been split. Some say they've had problems (unavoidable part of eating out), and some say they've had good results at Carrabba's. (Useful info...one of the good places was Carrabba's in Orlando.)

Someone mentioned eating early. I make it a habit to go at off-peak hours, but let's face it, sometimes that's just not possible. Last night, I had just gotten back from out of town and there was nothing to eat at home. As a general rule, I go early so it's easier to communicate with the waitstaff and the kitchen isn't under pressure.

I must add...that with any restaurant...a little praise and a big tip go a long way. We are all doing public relations when we eat out and identify ourselves as gluten-free. Whatever we do in a restaurant creates an impression that will impact how the next gluten-free person will be treated. But I still think that if Carrabba's is going to commit to having a gf menu, telling us on that menu not to ask anything of their purposely untrained staff....well, it just isn't customer-oriented.

I eat out more frequently than the average bear. Circumstances. But if I'm going to support a vendor that has a gf menu, which I like to do, I'd like to feel more comfortable there. Carrabba's caveat is a turn-off...and a cop-out.
