Since many of us need stool regulators to normalize the days of opposite
extremes, I've seen several postings last week on using Metamucil. This
is made of psyllium and gives a great deal of excess gas and
bloating...the last thing we need I switched to Citrucel (which my
physician recommended and uses as well) and found it very satisfactory
with no gas. Since it lists maltodextrin, I called Smith , Kline, Beechum
and they said the maltodextrin comes from corn starch, not barley.
When I told them I was an celiac, they were familiar with gluten and said
that this was a gluten-free product.

I like Frito-Lay's Smartfood reduced fat cheddar cheese popcorn. I called
Frito Lay and spoke with their nutritionist who said that their listed
maltodextrin also comes from corn starch and does not contain gluten.

I'm finding more and more hotdogs out there which list modified potato or
soy starch instead of just Modified starch (wheat binders). There's hope
yet.

Hope this helps.
