Hi everybody,
I wrote sometime ago about the Eating Out Project of the Italian Coeliac Society. Some of you were interested in knowing which rules are taught to the participating Restaurants by the Italian Coeliac Society. I suggested you to contact the Society to get this information. Just today I got a message in the Italian mailing list that the Society has published an excerpt in English from the protocol signed by all the venues listed in the Eating Out Project. They say they did it because of many requests by foreign coeliacs and probably by some of you after my message, too.

Here is the excerpt from the protocol:

And here is some general information in English about the Italian Eating Out Project:

If you go to Italy, I warmly suggest you to eat in the Restaurants and Pizzerias of this project. Some days ago a person wrote about her stay in Italy, saying that she had a good time and ate well, but she was disappointed that there was no gf bread or gf pizza in the restaurants she visited. She pointed out that she could not visit the restaurants of the Eating Out Project. Well, in normal restaurants you can also set up a gf meal, but normal restaurants do not usually offer any substitution to our forbidden foods (bread, pasta, etc.), so that you have to leave these out from your choices. If you want to eat gf pasta, pizza, bread or cakes, you should go to the restaurants of the list.
Sincerely,
Maria Paola
