Hi all,

I thought I would pass on this info that I FINALLY got from the Red Bull company. I drank a Red Bull with my 12 yo son who also is Celiac and we had a reaction. We found out a while back that the glucose syrup in Mentos candy is derived from wheat, and when I looked at the Red Bull can I noticed it is made in Austria---leading me to the conclusion that our reaction must be from wheat-derived glucose----and I was right! It took me 2 phone calls and 2 emails to finally get my answer. Just to note---this drink IS gluten-free, but I am sharing this info for those of us who have Celiac and cannot tolerate ANY by products of wheat, rye, barley, oats regardless if they are considered gluten free. The following is the declarative email I got from Red Bull USA:

Dear Katie,

Yes, as I said before the glucose is derived from wheat, but is refined to a pure form-free of any wheat.

Those consumers with the same concerns that you have are quite relieved to hear that they can still enjoy their favorite Energy Drink, despite receiving the distressing news that they have to avoid wheat and gluten. We hear from those who have dietary restrictions due to celiac, wheat allergies and other conditions that require wheat and gluten to be cut from their diets.

I hope that helps. Have a great weekend!

Cheers,

Andrea
