I'm answering this to the whole list as I've seen it mentioned before. My
husband did have a stricture of the esophagus. He had a biopsy every three
months for awhile. The procedure apparently stretched the esophagus enough to
relieve his symptoms (he couldn't swallow his food). I attribute everything
he had to sprue because he was completely well before he got it and sick
afterwards. His sprue was caused or triggered by a trip to Thailand.
