1998 Celiac Conferences:

  *  April 26, Sunday, Wisconsin annual statewide meeting, at the
     Appleton Medical Center, 1818 N. Mead St., in Appleton,
     Wisconsin (near Green Bay).  Leon Rottmann, executive director of
     CSA/USA, will speak on "Vitamins and Food Choices for Celiacs".
     The cost is $5 per person.  If you plan on attending, write to

  *  May 3, Sunday, Gluten Intolerance Group of North America annual
     conference, in Bellevue, Washington (near Seattle).  Topics
     include "Osteoporosis and Its Connection with CD", "Food
     Sensitivities:  Allergies vs. Intolerance" (Carol Fenster), and
     an open forum for questions.  Cost is $90.  For more information,

  *  May 29-31, Friday evening--Sunday noon, Canadian Celiac
     Association national conference, in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.
     Topics include "Living Well Without Gluten" (Bette Hagman),
     "Blood Screening and CD", "Dermatitis Herpetiformis", and a panel
     discussion.  Cost is $135 (Canadian funds) for non-members, $99
     for members.  Child care (ages 3 and up) is available Saturday
     and Sunday, for $5 per child per day.  For a conference brochure,

  *  Oct. 30-Nov. 1, Friday morning--Sunday noon, CSA/USA annual
     conference, in Warwick, Rhode Island (near Providence).  The
     cost, program, and speakers are not yet finalized.  Last year the

  *  Nov. 14, Saturday, Gluten-Free Gang's annual conference, in
     Columbus, Ohio.  The cost, program, and speakers are not yet
     finalized.  Last year the cost was $15 per person.  This
     conference is unique in that it provides age-specific programs
     for children starting at age 2.  For more information, write to

Free Medline Access:  If you have internet access, then you also have
free access to Medline, the world's most extensive collection of
published medical information.  Use Medline to find articles published
on a given topic.  For instance, a search on the word "celiac" turned
up over 11,000 entries.  Many of these entries include an abstract.
The full text of the article is also available for a fee, or you can
visit a medical library to find the article and read it.  The URL for
