Just wanted to thank those of you who replied, and to share the information
that they kindly passed on to me.  Happily, kinder eggs are, indeed, GF, and
my son will be able to enjoy them when they arrive.

For those who don't know what kinder eggs are, a kinder egg is a hollow
egg-shaped shell of chocolate, inside of which is a toy.  Now, these aren't
just your usual run-of-the-mill freebie toys - they are usually quite
amazing.  Most require some assembly, and it's not uncommon to discover that
the finished product is larger than the egg in which it was enclosed.  I
believe the toys change every year, and that there are at least several
hundred in any given year (so you have to buy *a lot* of kinder eggs if you
want to have a decent collection!).  They are loads of fun, and very popular
in Europe and Canada.
