I've had a long succession of various bowel dysbiosis in spite of an
excellent whole food diet. I have finally found out why. I have IgA
dificiency (just got tests results back). I've read that IgA, mostly
secreted in the mucous membranes, is an important component of the body's
immune system. Deficiency in IgA is common in celiacs (5%) and associated
with frequent infections of the mucous membranes (respiratory,
gastrointestinal, vaginal) such as candidiasis, bacterial overgrowth as well
as leaky gut, food allergies, etc. -- in other words the story of my life!
Thankfully the GF diet cleared up the vaginal & respiratory infections and
kefir is largely keeping the bowel infections under control. BUT, if any of
you have experience or references to share about this condition, how to
treat it, remedy it, etc., please share. I need all the help I can get. I
will summarize.
