Today, I bought a bag of Eatsmart Naturals MultiGrain Tortilla Chips (made by Snyders of Hanover).

The bag clearly says gluten-free. I went to the EatSmartNaturals.com website for more information and saw a list of products they say are gf, including the tortilla chips.

However, the tortilla chips includes oat fiber as an ingredient. I just emailed the company to ask if their oat fiber comes from a gluten-free source, and of course, I have not heard back yet. But I was wondering if any of you have any information about oat fiber. I've never seen that on an ingredients list before. I've never heard of it before. My main concern would be the cross-contamination issue we have with any oat product. (Please don't advise me not to eat oats. As long as I buy the dedicated gf oats, I'm fine.)

I don't want to discourage companies from producing and labeling gf foods, but....we're not 100% safe yet and still have to read labels and ask questions. Yes, I thanked them for producing healthy, gf products and asked nicely. It seems every time I go shopping, I notice something else that is labeled gluten-free. Progress.

Thanks, Lin
