I recently wrote Red Lobster asking about the gluten status of some of their
foods. This was their answer:

Dear Mrs. Lutz:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your concerns regarding our
Red Lobster menu.

I have learned that "naturally occurring MSG" is a product called Hydrolyzed
Vegetable Protein. This is naturally occurring in vegetables, especially
tomatoes. Individuals who are extremely sensitive to MSG may also be
sensitive to Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein which is found in all of our
seasonings and breadings. Although we try to procure products without added
MSG, some of our products such as Blue Cheese Dressing, Ranch Dressing,
Bloody Mary Mix and New England Clam Chowder may contain it.

Again, thank you for contacting us. We certainly value your patronage, and
look forward to serving you soon.

Sincerely,

Wanda
