Dear Listmates -
I forgot to mention this in my post:

These "rye" bread slices are tiny, i.e. short, so it
works better to put them in the toaster by standing
each slice on end i.e. sideways, so that they are taller.

Otherwise, when they are toasted, you have to unplug the
toaster, and either scorch your fingers trying to get them out,
or use a fork (make sure the toaster is unplugged first). It is
possible for a slice to crumble, too, especially if only toasted lightly.

By putting them in sideways, so that they are tall and narrow
(instead of short and wide), it is much easier remove them from the
toaster when toasted.
