Carol,

Good morning! The Corncakes are not gluten free. The stores in the Milwaukee area may not have put out there updated GF menus. I am contacting the JVP of this are about the situation. Our office will also reach out to our stores to make sure updated GF menus are available.

Thank you,

Michelle

Dear Michelle,

I forwarded your response re/the corn cakes on the Outback menu to the Celiac List.

The issue is not put to rest yet as a sampling of received responses follows:

There is a lot of confusion re these corn cakes which everyone agrees are delicious. Is it possible they are made and listed as GF in some locations? It seems unusual that some of the restaurants are selling this meal as GF and others not.

Hoping you can clear this up and thanking you for helping the celiac community....................

"Our restaurant said the chicken is not, but the corn cakes are so you can get them on the side?"

* "I checked the website
and found it to say they were not gluten free. Last night I went to Outback
for dinner and asked for the gf menu and on that menu it was marked gf. I
was so happy and I ordered it. I was given two cakes and they were so good I
ordered two more. I have had no reaction whatsoever. However, I agree that
they just must not be gf because what the heck could they be made of. I ate
at the OB in Milwaukee and I guess they had better change their menu.
Really, one is never really safe - eating in or out, but that is going a bit
far. Just some info thought you might be interested in. Thanks for your
post." jc

*"Hi, Maybe the chicken is not gf but the corn cakes are??"

***The original poster said both items were marked GF in her Outback in state of Washington.

  G'day,

Thank you for your e-mail. I've attached a gluten free menu. Our GF menu is reviewed by Cynthia Kupper Executive Director of Gluten Intolerance Group of NA. The Bronzed Chicken with Corn Cakes is not GF.

  I hope this is helpful!

  Comments:

Good Day....a poster on the celiac listserv ate recently at an Outback

restaurant. She ate corncakes that she states were gluten free. Your

current menu on the internet does not show the corn cakes and bronzed

chicken as a gluten free choice.

Are you able to tell me if this selection is now a gluten free option in

  some of your restaurants?

  Thank you,

  Carol
