from planters and so far so good. The doctor said her bloodwork shows that

I eat trader joe's nuts all the time. Good to know about Woodstock
Farms - what a disappointment! - may explain some of my reactions,
which I thought was to almond butter. I eat Whole Foods Brand nuts &
nut butters

I.M. Healthy makes great soy nut butter, both creamy and crunchy. My kids
like it too--excellent substitute for peanut butter. The label indicates
'gluten free.'

very sensitive celiac and I have trouble with mixed nuts, but I've done just
fine with Planter's, Trader Joe's and Safeway's roasted cashews.

Woodstock Farms
. I called them several years ago and spoke with a man in
charge of operations or quality assurance or something like that in the
plant. He told me that they do not use wheat flour at all in their facility
and they do not use anything containing gluten with their nuts. However, he
said that in a different part of the same facility they use oat flour to
keep the dried fruit from sticking and that there was, consequently, the
possibility that the oat flour could contaminate the nuts. He further
stated that in three months they were moving to a new facility where the
dried fruit would be packaged in a completely separate building where there
would be no possibility of cross-contaminating the nuts. I have never had a
gluten reaction to Woodstock farm nuts that I know of.

Westerly's on 8th Ave and 54th St. The nuts are in large containers where
you have to lift a lever to release them into your plastic bag. There is no
possiblity of cross-contamination in the store.

try buying nuts from the growers. There are mail order
places. In Montezuma Georgia, there is an Mennonite place where I order
pecans by 10 pound boxes. Swartzentruber is the name. If you call "the
Budget", the Amish & Mennonite newspaper, in Sugarcreek, Ohio (can get the #
at www.switchboard.com) ask them for the phone number for Swartzentruber
pecans in Montezuma, GA.
I had extensive conversations with the woman; they just pick the nuts
and sort them by size and store
them temperature controlled, then shell and
ship them out when ordered. No dust on conveyor belts, no oil
lubricants, nothing on them.
Make your own nut butter in a blender.
Prechop the nuts to make them smaller, put them in a blender and add a
little vegetable oil you tolerate (we can only use xlight olive oil) and
blend until it is the consistency you want. You can add a little vitamin E
to help it keep better. Slice open a capsule and squeeze the vitamin E oil
into the mix. We use the rice bran oil Vit E from www.yasoo.com to avoid soy.

I have been okay with most unseasoned varieties of nuts from
Trader Joe's.

I've been eating Peter Pan peanut butter for the past year with no
problems.
Also I eat Planters Honey Roasted Peanuts by the can full! I haven't had
any problems

I called the 800 number for Planters today (got the number off the
"contact us" link on www.planters.com), and they said that the 8 major
allergens would be listed in bold on their (Nabisco/Planters) products even
if it was used for "dusting" the products to prevent clumping.

Planters is owned by Kraft and Kraft's ingredients will specify when
there are major allergens present (including wheat) and also will label
rye or barley if either is an ingredient in their foods.

Last time I checked, Planter's has NEVER used wheat flour for this. I
wouldn't think nuts would be at big risk to stick to the belt anyway.

All of our orders are packed by hand and not packing machines.
However, I can not gu
arantee that there is no cross contamination between
scoops touching sesame seeds and wheat germ. Sorry.

i just called planters and they said that any of the 8 major allergens
including wheat would be on the label if it is part of , for instance,
natural flavors and not hiidden in anything else.

NUTS 4 U located in Texas. The lady knows about Celiac and assured me her
nuts are not contaminated with gluten. I think their website is
