Hi. OK. I really don’t know squat about cooking except how to open a can
with a can opener with fascinating manual dexterity, and flawlessly pour the
contents into an open pot or frying pan :-) Oh I can also turn on ovens and
stoves and kitchen fans with amazing ease :-) And my kitty loves it when I
rub her behind her soft little ears :-)

No really, for some reason I thought vinegar made meats tough. Maybe the
vinegar was making my intestines tough as it was making me sick before, I
don’t know, and I became confused about this.

But now thinking back on it I seem to remember that vinegar would make egg
shells soft so you could do the trick of putting an egg into a coke bottle
without breaking the shell after soaking the egg in vinegar for a night. Or
was that an imagined, repressed childhood memory? :-)

So I stand corrected about vinegar and marinating and meat tenderizing using
vinegar. My question is what kinds of vinegars do you guys use to make
marinades? Like apple cider or rice or wine vinegar? Or rice-wine vinegar?
Certainly not grain vinegar I would imagine, as grains do yucky things to my
innards.

Hey I’m feeling better ok. Cut me some slack. I may be crazy but I’m not
stupid :-). I found out soy was making me sick so I cut it out four days ago
and am getting nutrition back again to me depleted brain cells :-)

Anybody know WHY soy does this to most of us Celiacs? I thought I was one of
the ones immune from it’s intestinal pummeling effects, but found out
otherwise through eating Mori-Nu Tofu for a month and getting all yucky sick
from the trial :-(

I have searched the St. John’s search engine and my opinion is that about
90% of us Celiac Sprue types go bonkers intestinally when we eat soy. What
is it about soy that causes this? Anybody know?

My friend is telling me it must be the tofu I was eating (I think not). He
told me to try eating soybeans in soup or something. I told him NO WAY.
Yuck. I like my intestines to digest what I eat, not make me sick from what
I eat!

Know what I mean, chili-beans? :-)

Take care, use vinegar in marinades (who knew?!), and enjoy Coca-Cola! :-)

Jerry
