Hello all!

My 22 year old daughter who has celiac has recently become a vegetarian. She has that nasty respiratory virues that's going around and so her Dad wanted to cook her some soup.

He bought 2 of the 32 oz. paper cartons of Swanson organic vegetable broth, and on the side of the container where companies are supposed to post any of the 7 common allergens in this product, there is nothing listed. Hubby didn't have his glasses on and couldn't read the fine print but "assumed" it was safe so he bought it and made a delicious stockpot full of vegetable soup.

But I examined the package a bit more closely (ever the vigilant gluten-free Mom!) and it clearly states "organic yeast extract (organic yeast extract, salt, organic wheat) in the ingredients.

Campbells/Swanson has already gotten a rather terse email from us-isn't it required by law for them to list "contains wheat"? And we have a lovely pot of glutenated veggie soup if any non-celaics want to come over for dinner :)

So, cautionary tale, read those labels-and write to Campbells and complain about their labeling! To whom would I report that lack of allergen labeling?

Shannon
