Hi all,

If you are looking for an artificial sweetener, as was stated in Dorian's
summary, stevia is an alternative. Yes it is illegal to be sold as a
sweetener (big government doesn't want the artificial sweetener
companies to go out of business) but it is legal to sell it as a supplement.
It is available in health food stores in a powder form, liquid, and packet
You should make sure to get the pure stevia extract. It comes from a root.

It is as safe alternative to sugar for diabetics. However, I have not
checked out the gluten free status as far as how they extract it.
You should thoroughly check that out. I have worked in a health
food store for 2 1/2 years, so I know it is available. Be careful, if you
can't have maltodextrin, some of them have it to keep it from sticking
together.
