For me, the issue is similar to cross contamination.  Shampoo residue is left
on the hair and skin.  You lick your skin and ingest the residue that
contains the gluten.  Same problem if it is on your spouse or SO.  You kiss
 their skin and ingest the residue that contains gluten.
