Lendon Smith [pediatrician] called FEED YOUR KIDS RIGHT. In it, he said
to give a child only a tbs or so of a new food on and empty stomach,
wait five min and then check the anus. If it is red [often beet red],
then your child is allergic to whatever was fed. It is as simple as
that. He also advocated rotating the diet, and not giving the same food
group more than once every four days.

the book is not longer in print, but you can probably find it and others
by him in your library. A wonderful book....I gave it to every new
mother and a few older ones, too.<<<<<<

Thank god this book is not printed anymore! It goes against every advice
given from professors working with Celiac!

You should NOT rotate the food too much, you should give them the same
food for about two-three days, that way you see if they are allergic
easier! If you give them different food all the time you don't know wich
it was that gave the symptoms!

This is also recommended to help their sensible digest systems.
The recommendation is also breastfeeding minimum 6 months, longer if
possible. Then indroduce food containing gluten gradually. My baby is
now 7 months, she hasn't been sick once yet! She now eat oat-porridge
once a day-quite a big bowl-and no problems with that either.

As for delaying the introduction.....The important thing is to indroduce
it gradually and at the same time as breastfeeding! This is the advice
given by professors here in Sweden and I follow them.....

If one delay the introduction, you will most certanly cause bigger
problems latre when it is finally introduced in the child's meals.

And they stll don't know how or even if cd is inherited! They think it
is since it seemes to "run in families", but then how come one member
can get it and not the others?
