Summary 4: addison's, pituitary, thyroid, celiac
16. My son who is ten years old suffers from low cortisol levels, sinus (staph A) infections, allergies, etc. A naturopath put him on something called Isocort-a bovine cortisone, I think and boy did it do the trick. It's available over the counter and he takes 2 pellets at 8, 12, and 4PM. It has made a huge difference, although I don't think his adrenals have recovered yet. The doctors had no idea what to do. I didn't go to specialists yet because no one would connect it to celiac. The acupuncturist says his gut is a mess....we tested and he had little to no flora, no acid production. He has lots of inflammation despite being GF for 3 years. We did allergy testing and he has minor food allergies, lots of environmental allergies. The accupuncturist is giving him something called Ultra Inflamx which is full of mainstream amazing stuff to heal the gut and reduce inflammation. We are trying this route for now. So Isocort has been the immediate answer to getting him up off t
he floor for days at a time as well as probiotics on an empty stomach, digestive enzymes, HCL with pepsin and Betaine (pure encapsulations) and now Ultra Inflamx. Answer: My endocrinologist stated adrenal insufficiency/addison's disease often goes along with celiac. I have been taking L-Glutamine powder daily for two years for inflammation in the gut. I add it to my daily smoothie,
17. My situition is similar. I have a good naturopathic physician and he finally found the cause of my fatigue-adrenal insufficiency. He prescribed Isocort and DHEA which lifted me up off the floor. I believe I have pancreatic insufficency too. That is where the pancreas does not produce enough enzymes. I take Enzymedica's Digest Gold, two at the beginning of every meal. I am 66 but this poor digestion has been going on since I was a child. Celiac can lead to pancreatic insufficiency. Malnutrition leading to more malnutrition-it's a vicious cycle. Are the amino acid infusions IV's? My doctor had me take mixed amino acid capsules. Had to be careful with that as I have a chronic viral infection, and more argenine than lysine causes a flare up. I found the Country Life brand max-amino Caps to work well for me. Answer: Amino acid infusions are a five hour IV-infusing slowly helps the body to better absorb the amino acids. I do take prescription pancreatic enzymes-eithe
r Ultram UL 18 or Pangestyme UL 18. They are stronger than the over the counter kind and are enteric coated so they are carried to the intestines where they are needed and don't dissolve in the stomach. Without them I was losing a lot of weight and went down to 96 pounds. Also the Rice Protein Amino Acids in a smoothie as mentioned above in another reply. I take extra lysine tablets as it helps immunity.
To be continued-
