Well, my face is red. I went to all that trouble to check the CFR
regarding vegetable broth, and then I didn't even bother to check a can
of tuna in my own pantry regarding casein. In my previous post, I said:

>First, remember that casein (milk protein) is gluten-free and therefore
>is not a problem for most celiacs. Only those celiacs with an additional
>sensitivity to casein need be concerned about it. Second, I could not
>find a single reference to casein (milk protein) in the section on canned
>tuna. Finally, if casein is added to canned tuna it would have to be
>listed as an ingredient on the label.

All of which is perfectly true. Then I couldn't leave well-enough alone.
Instead, I babbled:

>In any case, I think it is fairly clear that the above statement [which
>said that all tuna has casein] is not correct; I would venture to guess
>that most (if not all) canned tuna does NOT have casein in it.

I've already received a few posts listing several brands of tuna that
DO have casein, and I even found it listed on the brand in our pantry.
I dare say that not all canned tuna has casein, but certainly it often
does. So I apologize for jumping to a false conclusion, and hope the
first half of my previous post makes up for this blunder.

Cringing with remorse,
