Just in time for the Fourth of July, here's the latest response from Hebrew
National which clarifies their position on gluten-containing products:

Dear Ms. Kramer:

Again, thank you for contacting Hebrew National regarding our products.

I stand corrected, and I want to thank you for the insight. Our Hebrew
National products do not contain any gluten. We will have our FAQ's on our
website revised.

There is no wheat, oats, rye or barley in any of our Hebrew National
products, with the exception of our newest product, Hebrew National Beef Franks in
a Blanket which because of the puff pastry do contain wheat and gluten. This
product is produced in a dedicated room on dedicated lines and is not
produced during Passover production.

Hebrew National takes great pride in our fine reputation for quality
products and we appreciate your taking the time to contact us. We hope you will
enjoy our fine products for many years to come.

                                Sincerely,

                                Kathleen A. Carmer

                                Consumer Affairs Representative
