To the clinicians in our community:

I was thinking about whether celiac might be related to a disease process that results in reimbursed treatment. In other words, if the presence of gluten-related antibodies were to cause some heart disease, the connection could lead to improved diagnosis of celiac disease thus preventing or minimizing the development of some cases of heart disease.

Does anyone know of research into a possible relationship between inflammation caused by celiac disease and vascular or coronary disease? If untreated celiac causes an inflammatory response with markers in the bloodstream, could these markers or the inflammation change the functionality of blood vessel linings elsewhere in the body?

I will summarize. Thank you,

Judith in CA
