I’ll be traveling to Chicago at the end of July for graduation at VanderCook School of Music, 3140 S. Federal St.  I was instructed by my daughter to stay “downtown” so I just unloaded most of my travel budget on a hotel on the “Magnificent Mile”.  
I’m unfamiliar with Chicago so any tips regarding $ or $$ celiac dining either downtown or within walking distance from train stops would be greatly appreciated.  Travel tips not dining related are welcome too if anyone wants to be a Chicago tourism booster.
