In a listmate's summary: 1. A listmember was first diagnosed with
diabetes & then CD. Diabetes usually occurs from malabsorption
problems. Going on celiac diet resulted
in losing weight & then the disappearance of diabetes.

<snip>

Just to clarify~ there (currently) is no "cure" for diabetes. Once a
diabetic always a diabetic- with the exception of a Type 1 diabetic
getting a pancreas transplant.

Type 2 diabetics can (sometimes) control the condition with diet &
exercise- but the ability for the body to resist insulin or have
sporadic pancreas function (creating extreme highs or lows) still
exists.

A person who can maintain control & stay within normal blood glucose
ranges, should continue to self- monitor their blood glucose, and have
regular doctor visits specifically to address the diabetes. Insulin is a
hormone, and can change dramatically for a variety of reasons. Blood
pressure, cholesterol & glucose levels all need to be monitored to be a
diabetic in control.
