We watched "Dirty Jobs" on the Discovery Channel last night, one of the
jobs he was trying out was a cooper making wine barrels.

Interestingly, they use a mixture of flour and water to form a seal
between the to of the barrel and the lid.  So even though wine is gluten
free, if the barrel was sealed with this flour paste the wine could be
contaminated with gluten....
